OOt enhances community experiences for non-profits and professional organizations by leveraging proximity, interests, and skills, and offers secure sign-up via Microsoft, Google, or Apple without passwords.
01.Basic Information: Enter your name, pronouns, and profession.
02.Invite Code: You will be prompted to enter a six-digit invite code. If you are part of a non-profit or other professional organization that has established itself on the OOt platform, your admin will provide you with this code.
03. Skills: Enter any relevant skills to help identify your expertise or potential need for mentorship in specific areas.
04. Interests: Indicate your professional and personal interests.
The home screen provides access to core features like OOt Connections, Communities, HangOOts, and Chat Support, allowing you to connect based on proximity, explore communities, create events, and join private groups using a 6-digit code.
When you land on the home screen, you’ll see a bottom navigation bar with the core functions of the platform.
This feature lets you find people to connect with based on proximity, skills, interests, and community type.
Explore the communities you belong to and discover new ones.
Create and discover community events, facilitating face-to-face interactions. Our research shows that events are a powerful way to unite members, and HangOOts enables spontaneous event creation to enhance the community experience.
Chat supports all three core functions, enabling seamless communication.
OOt's notification center keeps you updated on OOt Connections, HangOOts, and Chats, alerting you to connection invitations and new community events.
Update your personal information and privacy settings, tailor the app's behavior and appearance to your preferences, and explore security features to ensure your account is protected while enhancing your overall experience.
On your home screen, you can easily access ‘Edit Profile‘ left under your name at the top. If you prefer, you can also click on the gear icon in the top right corner and navigate to your profile section.
Updating your profile is simple and can include various aspects to better reflect your professional identity. You can update your generation, title, and organization name. This helps others understand your background and professional status.
Are you a mentor or seeking mentorship? Indicate your preference here. Additionally, if you’re part of an equity-impacted group, you can select the appropriate toggle to let others know.
Updating your skills is crucial for better matching with others. Add or modify your skills to ensure our connection score algorithm can find the best matches for you. Don’t forget to update your LinkedIn link here, providing others with a complete view of your professional profile.
In addition to profile updates, you can customize your settings to suit your preferences. Adjust your location-sharing settings to control who can see your location, set your notification frequency to manage how often you receive alerts and manage blocked users to maintain your comfort and privacy.

When you sign up with OOt and land on the home screen, you’ll see an onboarding checklist designed to guide you smoothly into the platform. This checklist includes the following steps:
As you progress through these steps, the checklist will track your completion status, shown by a progress bar at the top, helping you see how far you’ve come and what’s left to explore.
Have you ever walked into a room full of people and wished you knew who was there and how to connect with them? OOt Connections makes it easy for you to see who's around and indicate your interest in connecting 1:1.
Black Cards: These indicate that the person shares a private community with you.
White Cards: These show people who are not in your private communities but may still be valuable connections.
Descending Order: Each card is ordered by a custom connection score specific to you. This score is calculated based on shared interests, skills, mentorship opportunities, and proximity. A complete profile boosts your score, helping you make more meaningful connections. OOt takes the guesswork out of finding the right people to connect with!
At the top right, you can filter your search. For instance, if you’re at a large conference and want to know who from your community is within 200 meters, use the filters to narrow it down. If they’re visible, you’ll see who’s available to connect.
Some days, you might not want to connect. Simply toggle your visibility to go incognito, and you won’t appear to others as available for connection.
To see your current connections, tap on My Connections. For any requests you’ve sent or received, you can check the Requests button to see what’s outstanding.
Want to connect with someone outside your private communities? No problem! Visit their profile to explore shared interests and skills. You can then send a connection request. Once accepted, initiate a 1:1 HangOOt by specifying the location, date, time, and reason for meeting. The invite will be sent through the connections chat.
Welcome to OOt Communities, your hub for connecting with like-minded individuals and networks!
You can access OOt Communities from the bottom navigation bar. Once inside, you’ll see your primary private communities at the top, along with public professional and personal interest communities. Each primary community may have various subcommunities, which you can join based on your interests. For companies, subcommunities might include departments or employee resource networks.
Much like the Connections section, Communities has a “My Communities” area, allowing you to easily identify the communities you belong to and create new public communities.
Creating a public community is simple:
OOt’s team needs to approve any public communities that are created. So, it will take less than 24 hours for an approval of a community to take place.
Once inside a community, you can toggle to join it. Important links curated by the community admin are easily accessible. After joining, you can participate in the community chat, where you can see the distance of other members relative to you, encouraging in-person connections.
HangOOts is the ultimate platform for creating vibrant community events, whether private gatherings or public celebrations!
